Petzl Myo XP LED Headlamp
Ok back from the holiday season with one killer product review! While the Petzl Myo XP LED Headlamp has been around for a few years, it still is one of the top-notice LED headlamps and thus justifies this review taking place! The Petzl Myo XP LED Headlamp, like most other products reviewed here at www.OutOnAHike.Com is not the cheapest in the industry - but we are not here to review cheap gear, we are here to review top-end gear! MooseJaw.Com has it listed for $77.95, which matches REI's price. At the time of this review being written Amazon.Com has it for $69.95. While I usually talk about price last, I want to make it clear... do not let the price of this headlamp talk you out of getting it! Sure, you can pick up other headlamps for $20 bucks, but like our review of the Arc-AAA LED Flashlight... you get what you pay for, and these suckers are top-dog! In my opinion these are the key things to any headlamp:

Alan Folts Ti Chopsticks
Ok, it is bound to happen... somebody is going to want to know why Chopsticks are being reviewed at a hiking/camping website... Let me just try to make this as clear as possible... and I do hate to break this to everybody... but not everybody eats with a Spork! Sure, a nice Ti Spork is an awesome hiking utility to have... they are light weight, and an "all in one" utility device. But, anybody that's just hiked 20 miles through streams, rivers, ferns, and canyons, then tried to eat that bowl of noodle soup will tell you, a Spork just doesn't get the job done! -- Oh, and some of us actually know how to eat with chopsticks! Ok, onto the review... » Read the rest of this review!
Traser H3 Classic Chronograph Big Date Tritium Watch, PRO BLUE
When I was a teen ager I use to always wear a watch! But sometime in my late 20's I got tired of having a watch on my wrist and stopped wearing them (and all jewlery). Thankfully most cell phones have a clock these days! Two years ago I decided I wanted to start wearing a watch again - I do not remember why - so I starting looking around at different watches and came across a cool Titanium watch by Fossil, so I called them up to order one and guess what - they were out of stock. The lady on the phone said they were scheduled to manufactor some more in two months so call them back. So, alas, I waited two months, and promtly called them back - only to find out they still had not been manufactored and to 'keep calling back'. Suffice to say, I eventually gave up. Then last year I came across a very nice watch for my father (retail was a tad over 3K, I got it for a couple hundred from StealItBack.Com!) and that kind of got me interested in watches again. So, for the last year I've been looking for that "me" watch. In mid-November that "me watch" finally made itself known to me - and man is it great! » Read the rest of this review!
Mission Knives - MPF (Multi Purpose Folder), Titanium
There are some things every person who hits the trail should have... and one of the most important of those things is a top of the line knife! Back when I was looking for a new knife I kept ending up at the same name being referred to me... that of Mission Knives. The guys at Mission Knives pretty much wrote the book on Titanium knives that are military spec quality. In fact, Mission Knives is one of the few knives used by governments around the world for their Special Ops Teams. Suffice to say, Mission Knives knows how to make a knife that will not die! While not up for review (at least at this time) the Mission Knives "MPK-Ti" is a de facto knife for the Navy SEAL's, United States Marine Corps Recon, EOD and more! If you are looking for a non-folder, go buy the MPK-Ti right now and never have to worry about buying another knife! They claim a MPK has NEVER been sent back broken - and yes, they offer a life-time unlimited warranty. Now, if you are into "folder" knives allow me to share some thoughts on the Mission Knives "MPF", a Titanium Multi Purpose Folder that is wicked! The MPF comes in a drop point, Tanto, and a Drop/Spear blade style!

Arc-AAA LED Flashlight
I came across the Arc-AAA LED Flashlight while surfing the internet for a new sheath for a knife I have. The sheath company had a photograph of some products stored in their sheaths and there was this nifty looking (and very little looking) flash light. It took me awhile to figure out what it was, but when I finally found the Arc-AAA LED Flashlight website, I just knew I had to pick up one of them and give it a try! It measures only 2.7" long and 0.5" in diameter, and weighs less than an ounce. The Arc is machined out of 6061 aluminum and grey Type III hard-anodized for corrosion resistance and durability. The body and bezel are lightly knurled, enough to provide a firm, non-slip grip but not aggressive enough to be abrasive to harm what it comes into contact with. The end of the body has a hole for split-ring attachment (included) or dummy cord. The metal pocket clip can be used both ways (face it backwards and clip it to the brim of a cap for hands-free use), and is strong enough to keep the Arc in place under normal use. The gold-tinted coat on the interior of the body is Chemkote for corrosion resistance. The head/bezel is tapered/rounded so it slips more easily into a tight pocket. It is sealed by a single O-ring to waterproof the Arc to 100 feet. There's a small foam donut on the bottom of the head which keeps the battery from rattling. Should the O-ring or donut ever wear out, Arc will replace them for free if you send in a SASE. The Arc is turned on and off by rotating the head. The Arc comes in two models: "Arc-AAA LED Flashlight" and "Arc-AAA Premium Edition" - and sometimes they offer "Special production items" which are usually very awesome. I have personally bought a couple of their Premium versions and two of a special production item that was a limited run called "Arc-AAA w/Snow LED" in which the beam is whiter than the regular flashlights (it was 6-7 lumens) The "Arc-AAA LED Flashlight" version puts out 5.5 Lumens and the "Arc-AAA Premium Edition" puts out 9 Lumens (via a DS LED). » Read the rest of this review!
